In this edition of CTH Student Voices we have CTH student and finalist of the Singaporean Inter-PEI Mocktail Competition 2018, Pham Thi Huyen Nhung (Hasu). Read all about her journey so far.

Hi Hasu, could you tell us a little bit about yourself (for example, what attracted you to hospitality)?

Hello.

I’m Pham Thi Huyen Nhung (Hasu), a 23 year old from Vietnam and an international student of Boston Business School. I have been studying hospitality for 5 years; 3 years studying a degree at Ton Duc Thang University in Vietnam, 1 year studying a diploma at OSAC International College, and now I’m studying at Boston Business School.

During the 5 years of studying I also traveled around East Asia and South East Asia where the hospitality industry is developing such at Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and of course Vietnam to experience the hospitality service including hotels, airlines, restaurants, the culture and the people.

I have a passion for the hospitality industry because I am always happy when I make sure people are happy and satisfied.

How has it been studying the CTH Level 4 Hospitality Management qualification at Boston Business School?

Boston Business School is a good place to study, a place we can trust. The teachers here are not simply teachers but they are lecturers, they guide us all the way. They have experience in the hospitality industry with a good knowledge and understanding of social as well as student psychology. Office staffs are friendly and helpful, they are willing to answer me whenever I ask them a question even if it is their off day. I don’t feel it's a school but I feel so comfortable like I'm at home, and the lecturer is like a brother who care and love you. Who only want you to be better even when they scold you.

Boston Business School provide 6 months of studying at the school, then provide a 6 months internship with their partners. They help you with the first step of your career and give you a good preparation for your future.

We hear you were a finalist in the Singaporean 2018 Inter PEI Mocktail Competition, where different schools in the region competitive against one another to create the best beverages. How was the experience?

It was a great experience. I learned a lot from it; I got to meet more people, see how they work and learned from them also. It is a good competition for students and I believe that Boston Business School will get better and better in the next competitions. I would like to say thanks to my trainer who worked really hard to train me for the competition.

What are your aspirations for the future?

First, I will study a degree in hospitality, after that I would like to work in the hospitality industry to get experience and improve my skills. Finally, when I retire I want to have a bar near the beach where people can come a relax in peace after a long working day.

That sounds really nice. Before you go, do you have any advice for the CTH students around the world?

CTH is a good program that is recognised in 54 countries. For all students that want to work in the hospitality industry and love traveling, if you are holding the CTH certificate, it will help you like a tool to get a job around the world easier. You will gain knowledge after taking the course and understand clearly about the service standard and everything in this industry.

CTH will help you to prepare for your future career.

Thanks so much and have a nice day.

谢谢你。(thank you)

Best regard,

Hasu.
